I can understand this completely. we have very little teacher involvement. Mostly do to many of them are new to our district and well they fear the principal who made it mandatory that she sit on our PTO board. We can ask the teachers to do little things but they never come to our meetings, so then never get to hear our concerns as parents. Makes it very hard to run an effective meeting.
I found that the best way to get teachers involved is to ask their opinion on different things. You might want to send them memo's letting them know what's going on and ask how they feel about certain things. If they don't come to your meetings, stop in a couple of classrooms and talk to them.
I am a new PTA president due to the fact that no one else wanted the job. I am excited about my new position but need held in trying to involve our teachers in the PTA. Morale is low due to a pending teacher contract but I feel that if we don't get the teachers involved our PTA is going to remain stale. I am trying to get some new "blood" into an organization thats motto is "because that the way it was done last year" HELP
