I would be very interested in knowing this also! I am coming into a PTO that has not paid taxes in several ye4ars and they are a hot mess and the president is on her way out and they have not had a treasurer in 2 years so I am not sure what to do! I want to make sure it all gets put back in correct owrking order but I also have no idea where to start! Hopefully whoever can help you with advice will also work for me!
I am trying to figure out what is the quickest, simplest, and best way to ensure the taxes for our PTO are in good standing. We are not 501 (c)(3) yet, but that is something that I'd like to do. In the meantime, I'd like to make sure the taxes are in good standing because we have been operational for some time now and every single treasurer makes promises to get the finances in order then leaves and dumps it back into my lap. What should I do first and foremost to get these records in order and taxes paid?
