WE HAD A SIMIALR SITUATION AT OUR SCHOOL. OUR PRESIDENT IN HER SECOND TERM WAS THE BULLY. SHE AND HER BEST FRIENDS TRIED TO RUN THE PTO LIKE THEY OWNED THE SCHOOL. WHEN I CAME ON I WAS NEW SO I DIDN'T KNOW THE BI LAWS. BUT WHEN WE GOT TIRED OF THEIR GROUP OF FRIENDS SCARING AWAY OUR NEW PARENTS, WE USED THAT ROBERT LAW TO NOT ONLY REMOVE HER, BUT TURNS OUT THAT HER FRIENDS WHO RAN THE SCHOOL WITH HER AND HELD THEIR BOARD POSTIONS FOR 4 AND 5 YEARS. WE NOT ONLY GOT HER OUT BY 2/3 VOTE, WE GOT OUR TREASURER, OUR SECRETARY AND VICE PRESIDENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME!!! BUT REMEMBER THAT 2/3 VOTE JUST ISNT THE CHAIR POSITIONS, ITS ALL THE MEMBERS IN THE PTO. SO LIKE IF YOU HAD 14 PEOPLE LIKE US, YOU NEED 9 PEOPLE TO STAND UP. PLUS WE HAD 3 PAGES OF FACTS AGAINST THEM. THEY TRIED TO GET AROUND IT BY SAYING TAHT THEY WOULD SWITCH POSITIONS SO THEY COULD KEEP A CHAIR MAJORITY. WELL THEY WERE UPSET WHEN WE VOTED AGAINST IT. IN THE END, OUR NEW PRESIDENT IS VERY ORGANIZED AND A LITTLE PUSHY BUT VERY SWEET. I AM NOW TREASURER BUT WE ALL WORK GREAT TOGETHER. GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT BULLY OUT OF OFFICE. BUT DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!! WE COULDNT USE E-MAILS BECAUSE IT WASNT FACTS OR PROOF ENOUGH. YOU NEED HARDCORE FACTS, NAMES, INCEDENTS AND PROOF.

First of all, maybe you should pull this president aside and express your feelings towards the micromanaging. Sometimes just bringing it to their attention can stop the issue without having gone so far as going through the process of removal. That can leave a negative view about your school and your PTO/PTA stating that the President you voted in as a group now is not to your liking. It can come off like a clique or group of bullies who do not like change. Also, as far as By-Laws are concerned you can go about it legally. Has this President served more than 2 years? it states that NO ONE may hold the same position in the PTO more than Two Terms. So if this person is trying to run a three year term that is automatic dismissal. This prevents someone trying to run the PTO their way and their rules indefinitely. Now keep in mind, that you or your few members must equal a two thirds vote and prove with facts not just feelings that this President is indeed not a good President and that their Managing no matter how annoying it may be to you, is HURTING the PTO. You simply can't have them removed because no one likes a little more paperwork. Be careful, if you try to slander this President without proof or have them removed with proof of their hurting the group, YOU or your group may in turn be in question. The School District, School or PTO do not tolerate bullying and to falsely accuse someone or try to have them removed for your own personal dislike with no proof to go on would cause an immediate dismissal or vote from the President. If this President has been rude to parents, you must provide as much information regarding the incidents as well. Parents names, date of incident, and supposed situation. They must also be willing to testify if President calls a vote to hear these allegations they are accused of and they may call the school board or principal to investigate these accusations legally as slander is a great offense. But keep in mind, those who are trying to remove the President from Office better be in good standings themselves both legally and board wise. It would look bad if the accusers were indeed known to be involved in scandal or have been known by others to clique or bully others to try to remove someone of good character and good standing with others. This is why 9 out of 10 times its better to work it out amongst yourselves and not bring By-Laws, or School Board into it. It can turn into a bitter battle that can in turn hurt the School, the PTO and the School District. Hope this helps.
The new president of our pto has ran off half of the board due to micro managing and being controlling and is acting very rude towards some parents and does not seem to know how to work well with others. The officers that have stepped down believe the president is not representing the pto at our school well and want the president removed. Other parents share their opinion. What steps do they need to take to get her out? There are two other board members besides the president left and they are friends and will side with the president so that is not an option.
