We have a very unstructured PTA and executive board. Our school is pre-k to Kindergarten, and usually we have about 2 dozen parents show up. When I took over, I was not given any direction on how to run a meeting (previous 2 presidents resigned). At our last meeting we explained that funds raised this year would be used towards a field trip in the spring and family fun nights at the school. The parents are really on board with doing some fun family nights, but I'm not sure how to use the funds for these nights (or if I'm allowed to use the funds). Our treasurer stopped showing up to meetings, so we don't have a formal budget or treasurer's report worked up. I plan on doing one for our next meeting, but wondering if I include that X amount will be allocated towards the next family fun night?
-Any suggestions on this? I know we are supposed to be raising funds for the school, but I don't know how to raise funds unless we get the parents involved in the school. The fun nights have been working so far, but they've all been out of my own pocket.
