Aimee -- Is it possible, so as not to damage the reputation of the PTO as a whole because of one person's actions by publically removing her from office, the Principal and Board left the President in place as a "figurehead" but stripped her of all actual authority?

At our school during an awards celebrations our PTO President was caught stealing T-Shrits that were on sale. It blows my mind that instead of asking her to step down the Principal has tried to keep this all very hush hush sweep it under the rug! I don't want to be labled a trouble maker or for my girls to pay the price, but something must be done! Help have any suggestions?

Unfortunately, what you have for evidence at this point is opinion and interpretation. School boards don't want to get involved without facts and facts that matter to them (a PTO President ogling breasts is so far beyond what they're going to care about). Take the bigotry perception, for example: you can't prove that he only shakes hands with people based on their race. He could easily say that his arthritis was acting up after he shook "Jane's" hand so, to avoid pain, he didn't extend his hand to "Shameesha". You'll end up looking like a trouble-monger.

Any journalist worth his/her salt is going to immediately put your letter in the "round file" (trash can). He/she won't spend time on a matter of this nature.

that sucks i was hoping there was someone i could call on them or something and its getting worse.do u think sending this info to school board would help?ive also considered sending this info to local papers and news stations.thanks for your reply every lil bit helps

The behavior examples you provided may be distasteful, but attempting to oust board officers is not likely to be successful. Even if your organization's bylaws has an ethics clause, perceived marital unfaithfulness, perceived bigotry, oggling women's breasts, intimidating the office staff (with the principal's tacit approval, it would appear) and drinking alcohol aren't likely strong enough allegations for action to be taken using that clause.

It's unfortunate a point of order wasn't called when the officers took their positions sans a proper nomination and election process.

Your best bet is to determine when the President & Treasurer's terms of office expire, and back your choice of candidate for election then.

basically whats going on is the pres and treasure of our PTO was slid into their positions without any nominations or votes,since they have gotten in the door they have been on their face book sites blogging about cant wait to leave school and get drunk can wait to get home to get drunk and they post pic of them getting drunk in front of their kids and in bars sitting in each others laps and these 2 arent married but married to other ppl lol,when u see them at school they are almost all over each other and if the pres(he) is talking to a female mom the treasurer (she) will break up the conversation unless his wife is close then she will not get close to him(pres). he (pres) has a horrible habit of stairing at womens breasts so he trys to wear sunglasses so no one can tell.he also will only shake hands with moms he know or his friends and will not skahe hands or talk to another nationality other than white.all of the evidence i have on these 2 i forwarded to the principle and she did nothing and told them to watch their back.they also have the workers in the school office wrapped around their fingers and treat other workers like they own them,this was also brought up to principle and she told workers if they didnt want to be moved to another school or fired they better not let anything else slip out.so im begging anyone on here that has any legal way to get these clowns out of my childrens school i need help im so sick of these ppl.oh and to show how childish he(pres) is we had a huge flood here in few months back and he was on his facebook making fun at ppl that was volenteering and this was also brought up to principle and they called him and told him where a film crew would be and he ran over to be caught on film helping out and tried to erase the comments he made but i printed them all before he did as with everything else.last thing all of their kids that go to this school make straight As and i dont see how when soon as they get home they all go out to bars and get drunk or get drunk at home? so how are these kids getting all these As unless they have made really super friends with their childs teachers
