I guess we do nominations differently. Our nominations committee is there to ensure that all folks nominated get called and asked if they care to run. They have no particular power as far as who is actually on the ballot. The nominations come into the front office, the names in the envelope are varified by the principal so that the integrity of the process is maintained (i.e. no one's name gets pulled because people don't like them) and we proceed from there.
Our nominating committee also doesn't have access to our email lists to where they would have the ability to endorse a candidate. In fact I would hope that the committee would remain neutral (until they cast their own vote of course) and let the candidates appropriateness for the position speak to itself (except of course where there are criteria that have to be met - like 2 years as a PTO member - ran a committee etc--I would think the NC would also verify that as a part of its responsibilities).
If you don't want the nominating committee supporting one candidate over another, abolish your nominating committee and have nominations come from the floor only!
She should be supporting the candidate her committee chose! I would have a problem if she didn't support her candidate.
Oy--why would she do something like that? But you know I have to say this isn't the republican nomination process. I don't think it was right but I certainly wouldn't "demand a recount" or a "revote". This is a PTO and if she did that shame on her but people vote how they want to. I would say it is time to move on and let the kids get the benefit of the group.

A member of our PTO's nominating committee sent out emails endorsing and asking others to vote for one candidate over the other. The person she supported ultimately won the election by one vote, now some are asking if the emails seeking support for one candidate over another by a member of the nominating committee compromised the election. Is a nominating member prohibited from endorsing one candidate over the other? Please advise.
