Thanks! It feels great to have it done. Yes, it did seem like it took them quite a while to start looking at it.

(Form 1023 was postmarked 3/11 - hooray!)

On your old question/comment. Some of this stuff is really open to interpretation. Now that I consider, I may have even given the opposite advice in a different thread. And the question may have been worded a bit differently in the version I completed.

But the end point is the same. You can keep it simple and answer "no" because you aren't really set up to benefit individuals. Or you can answer "yes" and justify it within the context of your mission. Either way seems to get you to the same point as long as your answer makes sense.

Follow-up: Just received our determination letter, dated 10/15/2008. The IRS contacted me in August to say we needed to amend our articles of incorporation, and it took us 2 months to complete that process.

Actually, on the last form I helped complete, we answered "yes" to both 1B and 2. Answering "yes" requires you to document an explanation, but that's easy enough. We just created a Word document and kept adding sections every time we had to attach more info. This may not match exactly, but you'll get the idea. I'll paste in a big section of the document.
