Hey Shay--we have a portion of our bylaws that deals witht he expulsion of members based on actions that are so grievous that they interfere with the function of the PTO. As far as "discipline" I'm not sure what that means--didn't do a chair job properly; was late to a meeting? I wouldn't go too far as this is a volunteer group but I do agree with a lot of posts that it is appropriate to have a code of conduct in place if you are concerned. We do not however I would have no problem at all speaking with a parent that behaves in an untoward manner.

Our PTO is in the process of updating its bylaws. It has been suggested that we have a "redress" section, for disciplining PTO members for failing to follow rules, ect. (This includes parents and staff, not just executive members.) Several members are adamant that this must be included. I have never heard of such a thing, and think it will cause lots of problems and discourage involvement. I can find no information about this. Any suggestions please?
