All this talk about elections has me curious - what kind of turnout do you actually get? We run ours just before a big school science night so there are lots of people in the building. Still, the only people voting are the ones on the ballot and the top five members.
There are not any nominations turned in, except for the ones that the board and the top five turn in. (by top 5 - I mean the ones that are always there at events, helping out, etc - there are 8 parents total involved including the people running)
I'm stepping down and that leaves a spot open on the Exec Board. Since no one nominates, no one votes. No one is all that interested in any of it and laugh it off as a joke. It's too late for this year, but how do we go about increasing interest in the future?
Everyone talks about the membership vote, (on budgets, expenses, etc) in our school there isn't one and all decisions are made by the same 8 all the time. Not because we haven't tried - games, food, activities - just because no one comes.
