our meetings are public.
ANYONE attending can nominate anyone else. Of course, only parents/staff etc can accept the nomination and RUN. we dont care who does the nominating, its immaterial. its the vote process that counts.
Since a person can nominate themselves, you only need to be concerned if this person will be accepting the nomination. Although it is strange that an outside member would do this, if the person wants to run & meet your guidelines, you have to let them.

Silver, I've read lots of your posts so I know you to be on top of your game. I'm sure your team followed through on the nominations process and insured that all candidates met bylaws criteria.
It sounds like the people who called helped uncover a gray area in the bylaws that may need to be tightened up. Thank them and say that it will be addressed during the next bylaws review process.
For this election, since the candidates have been presented and the ballots are distributed, I think the candidate should remain. Like Serendipity says, the membership will decide.

Yup. The board can address it for next time if someone thinks it is important enough.
If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down. <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>

Good point Robin. The nomination is for a new parent and the calls came from seasoned parents who volunteer for most events as well as have been executives in the past - well respected members would be my description of them. I do not feel any grudges in their comments. Nor have heard of any behind the back problems. Honestly I think these parents just are concerned about the process.
