My daughter's school has a PTA. This past April, they did a Health Fair on a Saturday that was free to our community and schools. It was great! We had escape school there, local volunteer fire dept. with all their equipment, like boats, firetrucks, equipment firemen wear and they set up a smoke room to show the kids how to get out of a smoke filled room and how you could not see in those conditions and state police. The PTA also had local heath providers present like local health department, Poison Control, MADD, Alzheimer's Assoc. The Coast Guard sent information. They had a boyscout troop set up and run a bicycle safety rodeo and gave away bike helmets. The local sheriff's office gave out gun locks and had Safety Pup there for all to see. The local news sent out a meterologist to talk to the kids about storms. Just some ideas. We got lots of free info from our state health deparment and national clearing houses. Good Luck
I just wanted to say that my other officers loved this program I found and we are planning on making one big safety night next spring. We are going to give out finger printing kits that our local police dept is donating and will be present. We are also going to raffle off a safety basket with a bike helmet, pads, gift cert from a local sporting goods store.
Just thought I would throw that idea out too.

This sounds like a great program! I'll suggest to our PTO board that we contact one of the providers in San Antonio. Thanks for letting us know about it.
Yes that is the program the representative in our area only wants to present it to the children with their parent. Not a problem for us but was curious if any others did it this way? Did you provide refreshments anything else? thanks
