We had this problem at our old school (actually, they still have a bullying problem but we're not there anymore)
One of the things we did to address it was organize playground volunteers. We specifically reached out to fathers especially to come and organize a game of ball or some other thing. The volunteers could not help with passes to the bathroom, nurse or to assist, that was still left up to the duty teacher but they were a presence and that helped.
Volunteers of any kind must sign in at the office.
We just had our last meeting and bulling was our main agenda. I had asked our principal to be at this meeting because we had parents coming to our meeting because the lack of supervision of our students during resess where most of the bulling has been happening. We have a new principal and really doesn't want to admit that this is and issue at our grade level (k-2) I see it every time i am at the school which is daily. Some of our bullies have special work plans but never face any punishment/ Instead they are sent to our school theripist for "boys Club" but go back to the class with candy or stickers and brag about how much fun they had playing in the class. When the kids who get picked on see this what kind of message is this sending to them?
Our school is facing budget cuts and supervision could be affected by this. Has any one every had volunteers on the playground and how does it work for you? We really don't have much support from our principal. A parent of one of our students is the police chief ofour town from reading above i am going to approce him to see if he can speak
Thank you for the support.
