We Are Having Trouble w/New Food Guidlines! Need IDEAS!!

20 years 3 months ago #54878 by mykidsmom
Our school started just two years ago no food in the classrooms and only store purchased cookies etc may be brought in during the kids' lunch.

With that in mind, what about a special night at the movie ( can families carpool?), or bowling, or roller skating, got a "fun plex" that would offer you a group rate? This is when corporate sponsors could come into play. I'm thinking like a parent that's a relator, insurance agent, or other independant employer. Would it be possible to work with the school kitchen to conjur up a fun prize?

One more thought, what would the teachers like to see? Any ideas from the ones this will efect the most? I know it's our kids but THEY deal with them all day and these polices effect them too.

It seems our kids should hate pizza. We do pizza parties for Box Tops and other fundraisers. For attendance they vote on pizza, disco, cotton candy, ice cream, and extra gym time. Classrooms win parties for having 25, 50, and 75 days of perfect attendance. For 75 days they get a double party and for 100 days it is a field trip.

The principal has a cart full of disco lights and her own music for the disco parties. She goes in their room for 20 or 30 minutes and they dance like fools. The kids love it, she also gives them soft drinks, but perhaps you could go with bottled water. Extra Gym time is also popular.

Other things we do that the kids LOVE is eating with the principal for birthdays and eating in the classrooms when reaching academic, discipline, or AR goals. Your principal could do lunch in their classrooms. Of course there is always extra recess.

we are trying to move away from food parties our selves and stay with student achievement theme all year. This year we have purchased little prizes tied to the theme of our membership drive and wrapped them into different boxes. Each class in each grade with the highest enrollment picks a box and then each of the kids get what is in the box.

We put birthmarks, fancy pencils and erasers, notebooks, etc.... We ordered most of the stuff from oriental trading company.

Every year we give a pizza party to the class from each grade level that has the highest # of people to join the PTO. We have JUST been informed that we can no longer serve any kinds of food @ the school. New state mandated law. We need ideas FAST! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
