We did a workshop about internet safety and how to teach your children how to stay safe useing the internet. This went over very well, we even had to schedual two more classes to accomidate everyone.
The school also hosted a Love and Logic program. Very informative.
I had a few parent ed programs at our school. One was on helping with homework. A teacher volunteered to give some advice on how far to go, what supplies to have on hand at home, etc. She did a great job. We paid her and she used the money on her classroom. It was right before our meeting for a half hour. We had a few people show up that did not stay which we had hoped might but did not promote.
Another was on ADD. We have a local group. Two members came out and identified characteristics, how to cope, etc. We had quite a few and it lasted a couple of hours. People really went away feeling informed.
Another was Love Enough to Say No. It is a program put out by our local Extension. It was late in the year. The music teacher planned a show that night and I could not change. Only had one show. But she was really having doubts about being a good mother. It was reassuring for her. I felt good about it.
Go for it! I think learning is important all our lives. The sad thing is the ones who really need it won't be there.
I am so excited about starting Parent Ed. programs in our school. This was tried several years ago without much of a turnout. Has anyone done this--and how was your response?
FYI, I'm getting speakers to talk about Crisis Support, Behavior, Discipline, Peer Pressure, etc.
