Miracle Recreation is offering school grants. It doesn't cover the entire cost but offsets it by a substantial amount.
Also you may want to ask for the money at a Board of Ed or City Council meeting. Sometimes the City council is not even aware of a school need like this. This past summer a group of parents went to the City Council and several of us spoke for the need for a playground, we took a picture of the existing dirt lot the kids were playing on and had details of cost for a playscape. It only took 2 meetings and they voted unanmiously to fund the playground. It probably helped that by the second meeting we already had the grant approved for 9980 off from the price of 50.
Have you checked out the Tool Box For Education grant through Lowes (and PTO Today)?
Lowe's Toolbox for Education
. It would help pay for a portion of it.
We raised most of the funds for our new playground through the PTO, but I know the ground surface which is mulched up tires was bought with a grant..the stuff cost 20,000. Crazy!!! I do believe that alot of money was also donated by area businesses. I will ask the our principle how he was able to get fundraising but I do know for sure he had a grant writer, not sure if that sort of person would also know the best places to look for grants or not, I'll let you know!

I am looking for a way to get a grant for our school's playground replacement. Does anyone know how to get a new playground built through a grant or in kind donations? My name is Cheryl Spradling and I would appreciate feedback. My e-mail is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
