If you cannot get anyone to come along, why not ask your local police department if they can assist you with your own bike rodeo. Our town does it and the kids love it. They bring their own bikes and there are obstical courses, safety lessons, they learn hand signals and if funded, they hand out bike helmets. Police also can do a carseat safety check. They may be able to also give you more ideas since they have their own magazines and hear what other towns are doing as well. There may be other schools on this site that have had a bike rodeo you can get ideas from. Your local DARE program can come and give an assembly about drugs if you still want to incorporate that.
sounds like a great way to get the message across!
Our PTA does a big to do during Red Ribbon Week. A spirit week, poster contest, at the end of the week we have a family night complete with games, decorated pumpkin contest etc. We usually have some kind of entertainemnt to end the evening. I have received many brochures over the years for different program we can bring into our school and have used some of them. I have run acrost a BMX show that gives a Drug Free message. We have so many kids into the bike riding thing and it looks like a real attention getter. Here's the problem they are based in California, they will travel but are not affordable for our PTA. Does anyone know of any groups in MD, PA, WV or VA that offer a BMX show?
