Question: 501(c)(3) status filed before incorporating with state
I am new to my school's PTSO and am in the process of being elected President. I am finding that our previous board members applied for, and received, the tax exempt status of 501c3, however, the state application for incorporation was never filed. Couple of questions: 1.) Is that ok? and 2.) How do we fix it now?
