We often hear about PTOs that have co-presidents, and other "co" board members. It's a great way to share the workload. You should check your bylaws to see if there's any language that might prevent this, but, if not, we'd say go ahead!

I think it depends on your definition of "board members." In our case, our board is our board of directors, and it has a specific definition in our bylaws (it's basically the officers and the principal) and is designed to be an odd number of people to prevent a split board decision for matters on which they have to vote. If your board, though, is pretty much anyone who wants to run a committee or activity, then you probably don't have the same issue.
