Question: Father Daughter Dance

We have a new principle this year. He has been giving the PTO a hard time about just about everything. The one thing we are going up against right now is he is not letting us use the name "Father Daughter Dance" he believes it will hurt the feelings of those that do not have a father involved in their lives. We have a meeting tomorrow - Suggestions? We could have it in a different location but we live in such a small town options are limited.

Me and my guy, VIP dance, Sweetheart dance. Change the name, not the location--don't know that it necessarily hurts anyone's feelings so much as it might not make them feel welcome if they don't have a father around. We had this issue with a Girl Scout father/daughter square dance a number of years ago, and found out that we had daughters of deployed military dads not coming because they thought they could only come with a dad. Now we have brothers, uncles, grandfathers, neighbors, and even moms filling in when a dad can't go for whatever reason.
