Question: Principal retirement party
Our principal is retiring this year and the staff wants to have a large retirement party for her off of campus! This party would be for the staff, the principals family, and school board employees only. Should PTO be paying for this party?

It's common for a PTO to do something on its own for a retiring principal, be it a luncheon or a gift of some sort. But what you are talking about sounds like a staff event and probably should be run by the staff. You can offer to help, certainly. Perhaps your group can help at the event or coordinate collection of donated treats to be served at the event.
