Question: Conflict of Interest - School Board Member & PTO President
What types of conflict of interest would there be if one person was part of the District School Board and the PTO President of one of the schools in that district?

Craig writes:From the PTO's point of view, I don't think there's a conflict. In fact, it could be beneficial to have a president who has a clear understanding of how the district functions and what the district priorities are.
From the district's point of view, I suppose there's the possibility that the board member would favor a single school over the health of the district as a whole. However, that potential conflict probably exists if a board member has a child in one of the district schools as well.
