Question: in school workshops for parents

Has anyone held any workshops at their school to help parents with issues such as homework, discipline, nutrition, etc. We are looking for ways to get more parents to come to the school and thought some workshops about such topics would be of interest.

These programs can be a great way to help parents. The key is to provide really useful information. You might check with your school's counselor to see what topics they'd recommend, and if they can connect you with any resources in the community. See what parents are talking to each other about, and start from there. Elementary parents might be interested in ways to get their kids to do homework without constant nagging. :) Middle school parents might be really concerned about social networking/the internet, etc. PTO Today has a free Internet Safety Night planning kit you can use: http://www.ptotoday.com/isn I've also heard of some fun programs involving teachers where parents become the students for the night and parents get to learn what their kids are learning in class. Prealgebra, anyone?
