Advice from PTO Today
Craig writes:Hi Shirley -- At the school level, PTOs and PTAs function in the same way. The difference is an organizational one: PTAs are affiliated with the National PTA and pay dues to the national and state organizations. Dues is per member. PTOs are independent. About a quarter of all parent groups are PTAs, three-quarters are independent. PTO is the most common term for the independent groups, but they go by lots of different acronyms. There's more detailed information on our PTO vs. PTA page.
