Question: What constitutes an official PTO?

I recently received PTO Today's email regarding early bird special for the upcoming conferences. I am the donation chair for my board, 1st year. I forwarded the email to existing and future board members. I had planned on attending but my current President stated that since we were not an "official" PTO, we would be excluded. We ARE an offical PFC (Parent Faculty Club) with non-profit 501(c)(3) status and our own tax ID number. Would we or would we NOT be excluded to attend the conference?

Your are definitely *NOT* excluded. I suspect your co-leader's assumption is more based on PTA policies. Many PTA events and services are for dues-paying PTAs only. But everything we do/offer at PTO Today is open to any and all parent-teacher groups, no matter your acronym and no matter anything else. Please spread that word. Look forward to seeing you! Tim
