Question: Legal Rights

We are a 501 C3 and I was told by the past president that raffles were illegal for 501's. I call the state and they said that it wasn't illegal and the school does allow raffles. I could use some help with this.

The IRS allows 501c3 organizations to conduct raffles, as do most states. If you expect your raffle to be large ($300 or more), check with an accountant. There are some reporting rules that you might need to follow, depending on a few variables. Good luck!
