Question: Funding a teacher's salary?

Do IRS laws and non profit status of a PTO prevent the group from funding a teacher's salary rather than loose the position (if school district is unable to fund position).

You can fund a teacher's salary. The way you do it is to donate the money to the school. That makes it no different from any other money you raise and give to the school. The teacher remains employed by the school, so the school deals with all of the employment regulations, payroll taxes, etc. Many groups fund positions for aides and librarians, but I'm not sure how many fund actual teaching positions. I'd love to hear from you if you go ahead with this. I think more and more parent groups are dealing with questions like this, and I'm very interested to hear how it works out.
