Question: Approval of PTO newsletters by school
Our schools management team has requested that our PTO submit our newsletters and correspondence to them prior to being issued. In the past, we have been told that we do not have to submit our information for approval IF we stick to the PTO info only.

Advice from PTO Today
Rockne writes:Hi - Not seeing a question here, but are you wondering if the school has the right to do this? Is it a public school? The real answer is probably. If you're using the backpack express (newsletter out to kids to carry home), then school certainly as the ability to limit your access to that. If you're doing it via emails that you gather yourselves, then you have more freedom. But there still remains the need to collaborate with your school leaders, so you likely don't want to just snub your nose at the concern. The best advice here is to discuss. What are the concerns? How does this new policy negatively affect you guys (bureaucracy, delays, etc.)? How can you find middle ground. Tim
