Hi akerzner -- Planning shifts for volunteers is a good idea if you have several people willing to help out. That way you get more people involved, and volunteers can spend time with their children at the event because they don't have to spend the whole time working. One creative way to get volunteer signups that I heard about recently (apologies to the group that came up with this idea -- I can't remember who it was off the top of my head) is to post an oversized version of your signup sheet on the school bulletin board. That way, people can write in their own names and even scratch them out if something comes up or they change their minds. This group actually did that for every event of the year at the beginning of the year. That way every parent could see what was being planned when and what jobs required volunteers. I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to post more information if you were looking for something else. -- Craig
