Here are the three traveling trophies I made for our school (grades 3-5) They are all recycled items from Goodwill. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/182325484890131414/ 1) The Gold Cup: brass lamp base and metal cup bonded with Gorilla glue and spray painted. (5th grade) 2) Lighthouse 1 - metal hanging wall decoration bent to stand up, screwed together and painted. (4th grade) 3) Lighthouse 2 topped with golden "high flyer airplane" - heavy resin lamp base and wooden toy airplane. I drilled a hole in the plane and screwed/glued it to the lamp base then painted the lighthouse and airplane. All of the generic WINNER "plaques" and Box Tops medals are pictures printed on copy paper with a home printer and bonded with Modge Podge. The lights in the lighthouses glow in the dark for a surprise when the lights go down to calm the kids. Since these will be handled by young kids I tried to make them sturdy enough to be dropped or touched a lot, hence the metal, resin and wood. We have started a monthly competition for bragging rights and to hopefully generate more of a presence to the students and their families.
