Hi gheidi,

Sounds like the event was lots of fun. Often, the events that aren't necessarily the big money makers are nonetheless very successful because they brought together families, helped people connect and helped build more of a sense of community at your school.

Thanks for letting us know about it!

Hi Rose,
Have you had your crab feast yet? The PTA I'm involved in did this, not sure if it would be consideedr a success, but we did make a little bit of money and the parents & students all had a great time. It is a LOT of work! Having a knowledgable person who has either attended crab feeds or put them on is key. I had never even been to a crab feed before so it was all a learning experience for me, that's for sure. Besides all you can eat crab, pasta, & salad, we had a raffle. The raffle consisted of donated items as well as class projects. The class projects were and always are the biggest hit. Clever and creative items are always made.

We rented a hall that had a kitchen & has put on many crab feeds. We made all our own food, which was pretty easy.

The hall had a bar that was staffed by them so we were able to have alcohol, which we would not be able to do otherwise and it wasn't a make it or break it deal anyway but was a plus. We also had a fun DJ and had dancing after eating.

We've decided not to have another one just due to the work involved vs. the little profit. It was a great time though!

We did a lot of fun and creative promotion leading up to. Selling tickets in the parking lot w/crab hats etc. We rounded up a lot of dads for crab crackin'.

If you need more details I can probably answer most questions you might have or at least try anyway!

Good luck! //Heidi
