We always have ours on a Friday night, late October, from 5-8pm. It is always great and we have hundreds turn out every time. You probably will have to rent a couple huge lights, but other than that, we LOVE having it at night (it's cooler, more fall like, etc,).
Hope it works out for you!
Evening events are fun! We usually have ours from 6-8 on a Friday Night. However, this year we have construction going on and feel it will be too dangerous to have it after dark. We are going to try for a late Saturday afternoon.
We never had enough lights. Make sure you have enough lighting and think about selling glow sticks - the kids love them!!!!
Also, we are in Arizona so the weather was fine but it might be chilly for you in Virginia. But then you can serve coffee and cocoa!

We are considering an evening festival from 6-8 in an attempt to breathe new life into the event. I was wondering if anyone else does an evening festival and, if so, how long was the event, was the turn out good, was anything missing from having a day event, etc.? Thanks for your input!
Yes, our school does the Fall Festival in the evening. It runs from 6 - 8. And yes, the turnout was good. I don't believe there was anything we missed out on that we would have had with a day event. Everyone had a great time! GOOD LUCK!
We always hold our Fall Festival on a Friday night from 5-9 stop games around 8, but continue with silent auction, cake walk etc. We have always had a good turn out. We are in the process of finalizing everything now. Go For it!! Have fun
