Family Event Member cost vs non member cost

I think you have a technical point on that, but not a winning point. It happens at 23,000 schools around the country and most of the folks who might agree with you will never take the time to understand the nuance of that argument.

Ok heres another question

Private monprofit -not all inclusive because your a memeber or not... using a public facility and not being all inclusive in pricing?

Any thoughts

Plus you have to think about those in the school who financially can not pay 5.00 for a membership. keep in mind that the begining of the year can be very expensive for those who have several kids or even those who just have one, with back to school supplies and new clothes, etc.
It is almost a form of financial discrimination.
PTO is supposed to encourage involvement, not keep people out.

I'd do my best to figure out some free events that your organization can sponsor. I don't think that a pay for event would attract many parents and I think the member/ non-member prices could very possibly be a big turn off.

I agree- I'm offended and I have children at the school- I'm also on the board and need ammuniction for my reasoning to them to not do this

(Un)fortunately we do have dues and I'm trying to get Free events incorporated

Events in my opinio should be free or same cost for all- just throwing ideas out there

I equated it alomost to an extrotion- well for $5 you can attend craft event and participate but If you not a member you cant paticipate unless you become a member and pay the cost

It just doesnt sit right- I have to become a member and pay for a school event for the right to participate???

when I first starting reading your post I was offended and I don't have kids at your school. It seems like you are trying to get people to be "members" without them actually caring if they are or not. I second Tim with we do not charge dues nor fees for any event we do...but that is a huge part of who we are! Only you know what will work for your school...
