Thanks for ideas! For those who are wondering how we are doing ours... here's the scoop! We are using a digital projector and hooking up either a laptop or DVD player to it and also hooking up big sound speakers to it... we are planning to show ours on a big King size sheet --- we were actually going to use the side of a plain delivery truck, but we are now going to the sheet...We are doing ours out in the field at our school and will also have a concession stand with soft drinks, snow-cones, candy, popcorn and funnel cakes! We are hoping to start our movie at dusk on a night with no school the following day. The response seems to be great at this point --- will let you know how it goes!

I am VP of volunteers for 2006-2007 school year and am looking foward in doing a family movie night next year. I have done a dvd projector movie outside and it works great to have a pressed white sheet on a wall and a surround sound theater system. We used what we have for our home theater. The sound was awesome! The picture was great.
diane, we are doing an outdoor movie night this june. i am very interested in your findings and would love to talk. did you already have it? any tips? i am doing the projector too, and cant decide if we should try and do a big screen or on the wall? thanks--stacy

I think you'll be fine with the prjector and either the wall or a sheet. The only concerns I would have would be making sure it's dark enough outside so that you can see the movie clearly. I dont know where you are but we start our movie nights at 6:30pm and it's still light outside at that time here. Another consideration is weather. Do you have a back up plan in case an unnatural storm system bears down on you 2 hours before movie time without letting up?
