I love the idea and can't wait to see the info. Our orientation is Aug 3, but we have an old fashioned open house in Sept, so maybe we could implement it then.
Thanks for the info and for all you do!! Without this site and the wonderful people here I would never have even attempted PTO.
And we're actually launching a PTO Today version of a pledge program in the next couple of weeks. It'll be 2 Hour Power -- with (you guessed it!) a 2 hour pledge.
Key though, as you asked, is how you use and systematize the offers to help. Lots of folks will say yes to 2 hours or 1 hour -- the whole magic of this is in how your group takes advantage of the pledges.
Our system will have lots of ideas and tools for that.
Is the 1 hour pledge like 3 for me? What is the number of kids in your school? Why did you decide on 1 hour? I'm just wondering if this would work better for me. Do you follow up on the hour thing and remind parents? What is your system with this?
Congrats writermom, sounds like a great night! What are your 1 hour pledge forms?
I would love some SCAVENGER HUNT ideas as well. We have one planned next month but not too many ideas on what/how we want to do it, any help would be very appreciated!! Thank you! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Our school has an ice cream social the night before school so kids and parents can meet teachers. PTO has a table set up with all of our info. This year (tonight actually!) I had volunteer info available along with one hour pledge forms and the response was great! I came away with a fundraising coordinator, a bunch of room parents, and a volunteer coordinator, as well as a whole slew of new members and volunteers!! Some people told me they have just been waiting to be asked to get involved and others told me they have been waiting for a new president (which just tells me I wasn't wrong in my dissatisfaction with last year's pres). I am so stoked, the teachers were thrilled that they are getting room parents, and the principal was glowing by the end of the night.
