We call ours a carnival and the only rides are the bounce houses.

Just a note on the hair color, this was a huge hit at our Mardi Gras festival! We do our festival in the gym, and accidently got the colored hair spray on the gym floor. The maintenance men at the school were good sports about it, but we wont make this mistake again. My daughter just came in and read my post, she reminded me that we had a hard time find all the colors we wanted in February. Look the week after Halloween for the best prices and more of a selection of colors.
Our school has a spring fair every year that is very successful. We have a cake walk, silent auction, cookie decorating, Scholastic books area, 6-8 carnival games, food and drinks along with a raffle and face painting. We have a DJ for the day and it is a really nice and fun family day. This event raises over 10K every year and is usually held on a Sunday in May from 10-3 or so. We recruit about 100 volunteers to make the day a success these are parents, older kids over 14, and high school students needing volunteer hours.
We hire an amusement (carnival) company to bring rides and moonwalks. Usually 3-4 small 3-8 year old rides. We sell the tickets in the amusement companies ticket booth and recieve a percentage of sales. Thie way we do not have to monitor the rides or moonwalks. It has always worked well in the past and hopefully we will be as successful this year.
We just had our carnival. It was indoors due to rain. Our biggest sellers were Sandy Candy and the Inflatable Obstacle course-the PTO moms did this one for the video yearbook! We don't get a lot of business donations but we did get a good price on pizza from Dominos. We sold pizza by the slice and as a whole. Lots of families used this as a reason to sit together and eat.
