We finished our Santa Shop on Friday afternoon. Pre-wrapping was the way to go. We funded our on shop this year instead if using a company. We have very little inventory left, maybe 100 things out of 3,000 that we ordered. We made after expenses just about $5,000. As stated before, we wrapped some items, and bagged others.
We just finished with our Santa Shop. We do it ourselves. We sell all items for $2.00. This makes it easy for volunteers to collect the money for the items. In the weeks prior to the shop, we pre-wrap every gift saving one gift for display. Everything is boxed and tagged. This year we took in over $4400.00 with expenses running about $2200.
I was thinking about wrapping gifts but decided not to. We have nice little bags and it would take too long anyway unless you have about a dozen volunteers with you. I had one teacher complain that our organization shouldn't do anything to take away from instructional time! Well, tough! The kids LOVED it and all the other teachers LOVED it! OK, I feel better.
The Holiday Shop our intermediate school uses supplies different sized holiday themed bags to use for wrapping. You just put in the gift, tape it up and there is an area to write to and from. For our elementary school, we sponsor a make and take craft shop. We get a donation of the paper that movers use. It's huge squares of paper, so we cut alot of it down. The kids can stamp, marker or decorate however they want and then wrap it right there.
