I thought this web site was very helpful for planning a Grandparent's Day event. www.legacyproject.org/grandparentsdaykit...y1.7a.html#anchorEND

We're hosting our first one this fall.

Good Luck,

other Details on our luncheon...we work very close with our cafetaria ladies and district food service program to make this happen. This was our 4th year of doing it and each year it gets bigger. We start advertising in September and put a big push on it the end of March (it is always held the wednesday closest to May). The flyer going home has a rsvp slip that needs to be sent back, each student is allowed up to four ADULT guests to eat lunch with them compliments of our group. This year with everything including the lunch costs we spent around 1300.00. Each lunch was $2.50, they give us a good deal!

Since our school has a sign in policy for guests I take the rsvps slips and break them down by grade level(it is on the slip) and time. I make sign in sheets by lunch period, all they have to do is sign in.This also tells us how many guests per lunch period and how many extra tables we need to set up.Past years they would get a special sticker to wear so we knew why they were there, this year I made corsages for them all...ugh! It was a nice touch!

As far as meeting up with their special friend all guests wait in the main lobby until that class comes down, they meet up, get their lunch and take a seat. The younger grades will often invite guests to their class room but that is up to each teacher. We do rearrange our lunch times so that we can accomodate this day but for one day a year it is worth it. as the time slot gets finish our principal says a quick thank you and those guests leave and the next batch comes in. It is alot of fun and it is such a great day, the grandparents love it . just be sure to do a special thank you to your lunch staff for all of their work! If you can get your staff behind you it is a great day!

The Rsvp slip has a place for student name, guests names, number of lunches needed, time attending.hope this answers some more questions! my program that my rsvp is on is being held hostage by my new computer..ha ha ha

Love this idea! So many kids are being raised or baby sat by grandparents and when it comes to social events, the parents go and no the others!
Do you have any invitation ideas typed up?
If so I would love to check this out.

Hi everyone, just had to share with you about the great day we just had at our school. we held our 4th annual grandparent/special adult friend luncheon today! What a great event for all that are involved! We had 449 guests and of those 373 got lunch compliments of our group! Watching the generations together is such a great thing and has come to be a tradition at our school of 460 kids, for the kids who didnt have a guest staff members and other guests step up to spend time with them. if you have the resources and a GREAT lunch staff it is something to truly look at. next up...staff appreciation week!

Our school has never done anything like that-please could I get your information. It sounds great. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
