I had to chuckle at the previous post.
Our last pres had a terrible time delegating and it showed. When I handed all the folders to the chairpersons and several of them had done things when she was on. They all looked and said "what are these for"
I said these are your responsiblities for each event I am here to help in anyway and if you run into problems.
But all the event went very well I have to add!

As PTO pres. I look at myself as damage control.
I make sure I take care of all complaints that parents have..I have told other officers to pass all problems to me. I don't want any chair person or other officer to be distracted from our goals..which is to make things better at school. One complaint take really take the wind out of sails. PTO pres. they are the do all, whatever it takes, keep them laughing, make sure we are having fun person. Then I do the list of crewchief. I have incredible officers who all put in time and energy. When I first started..everyone told me that only Pres and treasurer do anything...well that has changed. Don't forget to delegate. Above all remember why your doing this..it is for the kids..and it is about fun!
Thats exactly what I was looking for. I was having the same problem though I just do it I dont think about it at the time. That helped out my list a lot.
Thanks SO much

I'll start from the beginning of the term (July 1) and go through the school year.
-Set year's monthly meeting schedule
-Talk to principal about recruiting teacher reps
-Fill out personal calendar (school calendar, PTO activities, by-laws review year?, School Board election year?, nominations committee, etc.)
-Review/Update Policies and Procedures guide
-Prepare/mail Welcome Packets for board members
-Talk with new board members
-Meet with principal regarding goals/activities
-Manage Registration activities
-Speak at Newcomer's Welcome and Q&A time
-Maintain PTO's bulletin board
-Set monthly meeting agendas
-Email meeting reminders
-Preside over meetings
-Email monthly reminder of newsletter submission deadline
-Attend committee meetings as needed/as invited
-Guide committee chairs as needed
-Review all PTO print items (mass mailings to parents and/or teachers, newsletter submissions, press releases, school website postings)
-Oversee the big picture (committee overlap, schedules, conflicts of interest)
There are probably plenty of other things that just aren't occuring to me right now. So much of it becomes second nature that it's sort of like remembering to breath. You just do it.....
