It looks like we may have to drop it. After all this time we have only had 3 parents pay dues. Very few parents are participating and the children will have to do without. I'm really bummed out about it.
Sell business memberships to your PTO or PTA for $25 each. We raise a couple thousands very easily. We give each board member and chairperson two letters to get businesses in the community on board. We have 7 board members and 35 chairpersons, so we raise quite a bit. It might raise enough for a great dance!
Just an update on our 5th grade fundraising. We did send a letter out in February asking parents for $20 broken down into 2 payments due in March and April for May festivities. So far, out of 84 kids, less than 20 have paid but those who have paid did the whole thing in one chunk. A reminder with the threat of cancellation went home this week, so we'll see if it picks up. Do you have a skating rink in your area? Ours lets us open the rink 90 minutes early and we share the door with them (60/40, with the 60 in our favor). Just an idea.
I tried to get the president to go for this one. We'll see. The school does a lot more fundraisers than we do. People keep asking our parent group what are we doing with the money and we keep telling them it isn't us. When anything is done by the parent organization we put our name on it. I have ink cartridges in my home now. I even gave away Box Tops because we don't do that one.
I will be the head of the 5th grd funding next year and I appreciate the tidbits on how to get it for the future. I run the ink jet collection too so I will look into that route as well.
Thanks again. I was kind of weary after looking at some of the problems other groups have had in doing fundraisers. I'm turning in the paper work tomorrow.
