FYI! I am a new Prez this year and I wanted to spice up our monthly meetings, so I am adding a theme to each month. Instead, of a theme for the whole year!
Ex. Oct. Theme! Today's PTO is baking up a whole new kind of PIE! Parent Involvement in Education.
Then every month using PTO today, you can find a new theme.

Last year our theme was "Rising to the Stars" This year we are focusing on our kids. Bissonet - Kids Come First. We will use smiley faces as our logo becuase we can buy a TON of smiley face stuff through Oriental Merchandise really cheap. We hand out pencils, a pin for their ID lanyard to every family that signs up for the PTO, kid stickers, etc.
Melissa, great minds think alike!! For the bulletin board I will have a poster that reads something like "The average dollar value of a volunteer hour in KY is 14.08. The value of a volunteer at our school..Pricless."
We have Fall Into Reading sponsored by our FRC and Title I. I am so hoping they will use The Chronicles of Narnia this year. Since "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" will be out this holiday season. I don't suppose it would work for a yearly theme, but I'd love to see it used somewhere. We are big Narnia fans at my house.
Susanne -LOVE your letter and idea!!! I too have 2 suggestions....
1) I agree with Laney
If your school has first time students (kindergarten or new move ins) perhaps the first line should be modified as you wouldn't technically be welcoming them back.
How about something like this....
On behalf of the St. Teresa PTG I would like to welcome you and your child to St. Teresa School. Whether you are a parent sending your child for the first time, or a veteran parent sending another one off to school, I know that it can be very exciting! This was the opening to my letter sent out to EVERY parent of a Kinder and new student. The Admin. Asst. also has a copy on file to give to parents of new students who register during the year.
2) Change
make a difference in the life of our children!
to lives.
Keep up the great work Susanne!! Keep us informed on how your website is going as well.
Laney - I really like you ideas for Lisa's theme!!
