Yes, it was the biggest nightmare, ever! They promised what we sold out of the Christmas catalog would be delivered in time for Christmas and they didn't keep their word. They didn't answer calls or emails and when I finally got them on the phone they were rude and tried to blame us, then our rep. even though they had given us a promised ship date that had already passed. They didn't ship until our last day of school before the break, so no one got their orders until school was back in January.
I had to cancel our Spring catalog fundraiser because the parents refused to do another catalog sale after what they went through, they had to tell their family, friends and coworkers that the goods they ordered and paid for would not be there as promised.
I understand that many schools and non-profits had the same experience.
When I finally got the orders, they had the student name and not the class, so I had to look up each student to see where it went. There were many "substitutions" and missing items. They obviously just threw everything together. There were many shipments because about half the order was backordered on the first shipment.
Yes we have done Yankee for the past 2 years and they were boxed according to student for us, so it seems this must be determined by where you are, we are in MA
I'm currently in the process of doing a Yankee Candle fundraiser. It is for a very small group. So far only about $400 worth of candles has been sold. Can anyone give me an idea of how much it cost to ship all the goods?
Our school just did a Yankee fundraiser this past fall and YES they absolutely did sort everything by seller. All you need to do when you receive your delivery is sort the boxes by name. We have over 100 orders and it took two of us an hour to sort. VERY easy.
Actually, Yankee Candle did "pre-sort" for us, so I think Bertha's info is outdated...
We just did a Yankee Candle fundraiser back in October. It went pretty well. We normally hold the Yankee Candle fundraiser in the Spring, but figured moving it to before the holidays would increase our sales. Normally we make around $6K - $7K, but with the move we ended up making $8500 or so...
The shipment came in right before Thanksgiving. All of the pakages came with the student's name, as well as the teachers name. We just separated all of the boxes by teacher, so when the parents came in to pick them up we were able to go right over and find their product. Many had more than one box, and what was great is that they list it as 1 of 6, 2 of 6, etc...
Some items were on back order. We had most open their boxes up and ensure that they received everything. A shipping document is enclosed in every box and indicates what was shipped and what is backordered.
The backorders were promised by December 17th, and for the most part these came in. Unfortunetely some did not, so we are presently trying to figure things out with that!
We ordered our candles by the deadline in October, and here we are 2 days before our winter vacation and the candles have not arrived!! We are fit to be tied, and so are the parents, friends, neighbors and relatives who purchased the candles.
