That IS a nightmare!
There's nothing worse than someone doing something like that, because the school population doesn't see HER as the schmuck, but you certainly take the hits!! I suspect you do have a policy about handing out stuff, but that doesn't always mean people respect it.
Party Lite DOES have jar candles, but they're rather pricey. I know Bertha's school has very good luck with Yankee Candle, but it seems as though Party Lite could be successful IF IT WAS DONE RIGHT. It never ceases to amaze me how there are people out there that just don't get how to do things properly.
Were you able to pull the "chair" of this committee and tell her to get her act straight? Is it possible to send out another catalogue with a memo of apology? It seems to me if incentives were offered
she HAS to honor them. She dropped the ball. It's up to her to accept responsibility. We had a problem with a cookbook--nothing with incentives or anything, but one co-chair "took over," and COMPLETELY dropped the ball, right down to how an art contest was to be handled and getting the book published before myself (pres) or any of the other committee and executive board members were able to proofread and edit. To say the least it was awful, and the principal had a STROKE when she saw some of the artwork, which she was supposed to help judge  . Of course it's my, my vice's and fundriaisng chair's faults -- we wanted it done by a certain date, and well--she and her committee did what they had to do to get it done. The fact that she NEVER ASKED FOR HELP when she should have, and then NEVER LET US KNOW THE TARGET DAY WASN'T DO-ABLE if we wanted the book to be perfect... I too feel your pain.
