A designation letter is a notice from the Internal Revenue Service indicating your nonprofit status. It is also sometimes referred to as an IRS letter of determination. I hope this helps.
hey, I honestly am not sure what a designation letter is. I think its a new thing though. All I know about it is that we have to apply to the irs to get one and we can't apply until our audit is done. Big Dog is the only company though that has actually called my house and said that my letter with our tax id number wasn't enough. I'll let you know once we get our designation letter. Haven't heard from lowes yet, but it's only probably been a week or so since I sent the letter. maggie

Hey Maggie, what is a designation letter? If it's something really simple you bet I'll feel dumb!! Courious, what kind of luck did you have with Lowe's?
hi, I send a general letter out including all the events we are going to do. I have a copy of it posted here under a few of the donation letter request posts. For example, I sent the general letter to the radio station, but at the bottom wrote on it that if they had any hats, tshirts, mugs, pens, paper pads... etc we would love to have those. Z104 sent us 4 tshirts, 2 cds and some other stuff. Good luck. maggie
ps: if you know which event you want the stuff for, I would just put the one event in.
