Spring Time is always hard. Our school started a "Mother's Day Boutique" 2 years ago and it has been a huge success. We have parent volunteers bring in ideas for homemade crafts, and also purchase items on sale to make a profit. Some items are also available for Dads, and we make over $1000.00 profit. We do this in December also (Christmas Bazaar). The ideas flow freely and many people like to make crafts, so it works great. We ask for donations, and we also have a craft committee who purchases materials after we alot funds. Our Christmas Bazaar last year made over $2500.00. The kids really enjoy shopping for their loved ones, and we enjoy time together with them. It's really a lot of fun!
Our PTO hosts a Spring Potluck. Families bring a dish a to share and we have a DJ, doorprizes, games for the kids, etc. We have a small school (675 student count) and have around 150 families and staff members attend! I'ts not a fundraising event just a get together! We have radiodisney in the Denver area- thanks for the idea!!
We put together a "Tim the Toolman's" Dad's Club at our School registration to see if we would have anyone sign up. To our surprise, we had alot of Dad's sign up. They are planning a fall "Dad's night out". The dad's come to the school with the their children, go to the gym, and have a movie and popcorn with their children. Different grades on different nights because obviously there would be overcrowding if we did all grades together. They are also planning a "Night out with Mom' with the same scenario. I hope this helps! Carol Talty, Pres. of Coal City Illinois Parent School Organization
Gary--We have a date set as March 2. We received a flyer I believe--I can check on that if you want me to, it came from the local Hartford affiliate of ALLEARS radio.
Michelle, let us know if this gets set up. We have had radio disney come to our school for 2 years but last year they told us that they could not because of a legal issue with Disney. We had dealt with the radio station out of Boston. If they are doing it again we would be interested.
We are working with Radio Disney for a Family Fun Nite whereby they bring a DJ and all sorts of fabulous prizes for the kids/families. Check out www.radiodisney.com
to see if you have an affiliate station in your area that you can contact for more information. They call the event a Radio Disney Dance Party.
