Cautionary tale: Los Angeles Unified School District steps in to cancel a PTA's fun run.
dixiecanyon.com/2016/02/apex-cancelled-2-12-16/

Why? LAUSD says it violates the rules against using instructional time for fundraising activities by parent groups or outside entities.

the way we "boost" our event is with Spirit week the week of.
We have a pep-rally out front the school every morning (Parent volunteers, our mascot, we hand out stickers and have all kinds of fun props)
We also made lollipop trophies and handed them out each day to the class that had the most spirit that day (with an announcement at the end of the day so everyone new who won)

I like the idea of a video thought! Maybe we can try that next year :)

in our School everyone participates. It is done during their PE class time. ( With the exception on a few class that happen to not have gym that day, the come out during their "specials" time)

We hold our event early October.

Do you also send an opt-out form? What do you do with the children who are not participating? How do you keep them from feeling left-out / ostracized?
