Hi,
We would like to get opinions of this completely new and unique fundraiser. It creates residual money all year. The best part is, it's a real snowball fundraiser, the longer you run it, the more residual you make. In other words, the money builds and builds for years, and each year you gain additional annual income from the same fundraiser.

We hold an annual craft show and we rent spaces to crafters and at home business such as Mary Kay etc. We are small school, we can only fit about 50 10x10 spaces but at $30 each that was $1500 all profit. Plus we had a Chili and hot dog lunch, and bake sale. We also raffled a Wii and made over $800, and asked vendors for donation of an item for a raffle and sold those tickets for $1 each. All in all we made close to $4000. Doesn't sound like a lot but I think every year will get better and it meant we could eliminate the kids selling "stuff" for one season. The biggest key is to you need lots of parent volunteers to make it work. We were selling pizzas and various candy etc. in the fall and Spring but are now just doing it in the Spring. Their product is OK just parent's are tired of fundraisers.

I recently attended a very successful sale. Basically a sale of clothes, toys, strollers etc. There are a few reasons I think it did very well.

It was a consignment sale so everything was marked with a seller id then they got money from it. This is pretty interesting because the quality of the goods went up considerably. There were really nice things there selling for high dollar amounts.

The other thing is it was very well marketed in a particular niche. It was only kid stuff and there was a ton of it. People came in droves from parents to be to grandparents of middle schoolers.

Not only will I sell in this next year but I think it focused the buyers who have specific needs. Nothing about a good generic garage sale but perhaps by focusing on children the sale would have additional success? Anyone else seen this type of thing work?

I would think that if there were flat out donations they could be marked with a seller id that is for the event and so 100% would be earned on those items.

We do this type of event-- we call it a mom2mom sale... we have a fall and and a spring sale and they are wonderful fundraisers.... you can go to Mom2MomList -  Resale Lists & More! and check out some of the sales that go on.... this site lets you list a mom2mom sale.... there is a place for out of town sales as well-- but this will allow you to get an idea of what goes on--- we have made anywhere from 2,000-5,000 from 2 sales. We rent out a table space to a parent to sell their slightly used kids clothing, toys, books etc... and a reasonable price--- then charge 1.00 to get into the sale--- advertise, advertise, advertise--- it took 2 years to build up our sale as a great sale to attend-- now we have 1,000 people coming through the door to shop and we have 124 tables rented for the sale-- we sell concessions as well. the sale usually is a Saturday and runs from 9-1pm -- or 8:30-12:30... check it out and god luck!
