That is awesome! I'd love info on organizing one! Our school has never done one that I know of and I think something like this, rather than another catalog sale, would be a great thing to suggest. Please share any info or files about it with me!

We had one yesterday also. The weather was gorgeous and those planning it did a great job. (I was strictly a board member volunteer who did whatever assigned.)

One thing that made me laugh at the end was the bag raffle. We had the kind of drawing with tables full of prizes and a colorful sack in front of each. The golfers had perforated double-tickets with one half that said "TICKET" and one side that said something like "KEEP this coupon".

At one point I staffed the raffle table and must have said a million times: "Just separate your tickets and hold on to the side that says KEEP and put the side that says TICKET into whatever prize bag(s) you want to try for."

The group was 95% male - all ages who had just spent 6 hours calculating scores, planning the appropriate swings, comparing clubs, analyzing the lie of the grass. These were doctors, engineers, businessmen, etc. But I heard over and over again, "What? What do I do? This is way too complicated!" For several of them I had to walk along side and place their tickets inside the bags for them!

The volunteer "recruitment" was also interesting. This particular organization is an educational foundation, and a district employee serves as the administrator. There was a committee chair with a bunch of volunteers who worked very hard to plan the event. But when it was time to staff it, it was very simple. Each of 25 Board members got an email from the administrator stating the status, how well it was going, and how - since as Board Members we WOULD be in attendance, attached was our volunteer assignment. Be there by 11:00 sharp, and oh-by-the-way, don't forget everyone would be staying to help with the whole thing, including cleanup. No ifs, no outs. It was friendly, but effective!!

Has anyone else done a tourney? Any other suggestions?

We have $3500 in major sponsorships so far plus 9 of our 18 hole sponsorships sold. Now that school is back in session we are hoping to get a bit further.

Any advice you can give is appreciated.
