all of the above, plus, we are buying the school an AED (automatic external defibrillator) they cost in the thousands.
basically, whatever the school needs, has no money for, and the parents vote OK on, is what we spend the monies on.

Consider what the school needs in the long run. You may want to save your money for an expensive purchase. Sometimes the schools are not able to get the funding for things they really need.
In addition to everything cited below, we earmarked money to improve safety for the children by adding additional fencing to the playground. We also helped the school buy an ice machine which was not covered by their own funds.
Good luck with your group!

Well, what DO you use your budget for? As 501c, you can carry over any amount as long as it's indentified for a specific purpose. For instance, we know we have to plunk down $2400 deposit for yearbooks in Nov so we carry that amount over and for bills we know we'll need to pay within the first couple of months of the new board.
put out a survey and see where the parents want to spend it on.
I would try to support a local charity...Childrens Hospitals... etc...
We earmark 15K per year to help subsidize student field trips and supplies for the classrooms for 33 classrooms.
gosh...i WISH I had too much money!

Sorry, I also wanted to add, that you should check your bylaws (if you have any yet....if not, get onto them soon, there's a ton of info on this site), to make sure you are always meeting your group's goals. e.g. if your goals are for academic improvements, then paying for birthday cakes for teachers is probably inappropriate use of funds!
