Most of them are between the age of 11 and 14. The 6th Graders are pretty much up for anything - but it's harder to find things that the 8th graders wants to do!

One of our middle schools played a game that was fun and the families learned alot. You need to get at least 4 families to volunteer. (offer a gift for participating) One parent sits in a chair on the stage and their student is taken to another room. The parent is asked several questions about their student. What is their favorite song? What was the last book they read? and then the student returns and sits next to their parent. The students are asked the same questions and if they come up with the same answer they get points or credits. Then after this series of questions are done, do the same with the parents out of the room. It is good to have questions that helps everyone learn more about the other person. The answers will amaze you. Give them prizes such as free dinner or movie coupons.
We just hosted our first Rock Concert. We had two bands, one from the high school and one that actually just got a record deal. The kids loved it, they felt like they were really at a concert only without the influences that usually come with a rock concert. The second band, sold t-shirts and CD's and they signed autographs.
