I'm so sorry that I didn't check back sooner, I'll try and do better ! Featured Films For Families are an independent so they are NOT covered by Movie Licensing company (we called) but I called FFFF and it is FREE !!!!!!!! to schools/PTO's (not all their videos though). I gave him my inventory and he told me which were okay. He has to send an Agreement to us for the films I have to use. Call Rich at 1-800-326-4590 for info and go to his website www.allthingsfamily.com. All FFFF posted there are okay. I highly recommend "No More Baths !" It is my favorite !! I'm happy to be able to share this info with all !! I've gotten so much help here and I'm glad to have something to contribute ! Good Luck !
We do popcorn, drinks and candy at no charge. We may charge a little for concession this year not sure yet.
Thanks !

Hi VIPMOM -

I don't know anything (yet) about Featured Films for Families, but let me clear up the Disney (and almost all other major studios) licensing issue. It's been a big part of our research as we prepare to get Family Movie Night (FMN) off the ground.

Any school can show almost any movie simply by paying what's known as a site license for public showing. You know those messages you see at the beginning of a rental that say: "For Private Home Use Only" (or some such)? That's a true reflection of what you're allowed to do with a standard rental or a standard movie you buy at WalMart.

However, you can show that movie (one you own or one you rent) at a school event, if you get the license. Our Family Movie Night kit will have complete "how do I get the license?" info and will also include a special one-time discount on a license for your first Family Movie Night. A license is usally about $100. With FMN, that'll be $50.

Schools can also buy a one-year license that covers all showings of copyrighted movies in the school (classroom, recess, pto meeting babysitting, family movie nights, etc.) for a ballpark of $300 or so. That's the best deal if your school uses movies all year round.

Hope that helps. More to come when the FMN kit is ready in two weeks or so.

I found the Featured Films for Families website at www.familytv.com, and it really had a lot of great movies. BUT, do you know what their licensing requirements are? I know with Disney, you can't show any Disney movies without charging your "audience" to watch and then paying them (Disney) a licensing fee.

I've never had a movie night experience. I assume that you have popcorn and drinks to go with that.

My son's Character Counts volunteer gave out single sized popcorn one year with Halloween theme on it. I think it was Orville Redenbacher. But I also did some searching, www.asappopcorn.com has themed bags. They look like sports balls and they have other things. You could give those out as "gifts" . They also have it as a fundraiser. They have a sheet that tells you how much they cost.

I just thought I'd share. Maybe someone out there has had experience with this.
